Single Mother

Hey,

I was reading the newspaper last week and I came across this article. So me and my friends are getting together this weekend 18-Apr-2009, Saturday to visit this single mother. A group of us got together and came up with almost RM 1,000.

So with this cash, we bought them lots of food supplies and also necessities for them to use on a daily basis. The amount came up to about RM 717.82. So with the balance of money left, we are going to buy them McDonalds when we visit them in Seremban.

The reason why my friends and I got together to help this single mother is because, it is very painful to imagine a child going to bed with an empty stomach. I assume non of us can go through what they have been going through all this while. Imagine having coffee for dinner.

This lady actually has 6 kids of her own. Now, she takes care of 13 of them. 7 which are not her children. Imagine the struggle of one person raising 13 kids by herself. Despite having to raise 13 kids, she also lost 3 of her fingers while working at a sawmill. Although she had it re-attached but she can't use her fingers as part of the fingers were crushed. How much pain can someone possible go through??

So, for those who wish to donate or join us and visit this family, kindly contact me or any of my friends. Extra money raised will be given to the mother for pending bills or school fees.

Thank you

Agathian Shelter

Agathians Shelter is a home for children located in Petaling Jaya. It is an orphanage home for 32 boys from the age of 3 to 17 years old. Agathians Shelter is a home to orphans, abandoned children, and children of single parents. This home is managed by 7 committee members who are all volunteers. These committee members have to share the cost equally if they do not raise enough money by the end of the month to support the children welfare. The home employs three full time staff as caretakers, and a volunteer administrator handles the day-to-day administration work.Agathians Shelter depends on public donations for its day to day cost. The funds are used to pay their rent, utilities, food, education and medical bills.
On another note, the children are not exempted from their school fees. The home need to raise funds and make sure they have enough money to enroll each children to school every year.

So these kids also have their own Christmas wish list but on a more important note, we would like to emphasize more on getting donations so that the kids can enrol for school. As we all know, putting 32 children to school is a huge amount of money. With just 7 members, it is absolutely impossible to raise that much money.

Although there are people who donated uniforms and stationery for them to go to school, but with no money to be enrolled..the uniforms and stationary would be useless. Especially now with technology, the kids are required to pay a COMPUTER FEE of RM50. So therefore, we are going all out to get as much donations as we can to help these children. Agathians Shelter has also agreed to give us a tax exemption receipt....a proper one..(not the one from the supermarket).

Date: 28 Dec 2008
Time: 4pm-9pm
Venue: Agathians Shelter

*Map will be attached soon. A bunch of us are going there with their presents and having a small party as well. It will be a BBQ dinner. Anyone who intends to join, kindly notify me. Every child will call the person who bought them their gift personally to thank them.

A personal friend of mine, Yi Vonn who is a hair stylist is kind enough to provide free hair cut for all the children so they have a new fresh look for New Year.

Attached below is their cost of going to school and also the wish list of these 32 wonderful children. Also attached is their "Legal Registration Document" and also the council member's name card with their "Tax Exemption Status".
